Florham Park, NJ (Sports Network) - New York Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley was held out of practice Tuesday with a concussion he sustained in the team's season opener.

Kerley took a blow to the head from Tampa Bay's Mark Barron in the second quarter of Sunday's 18-17 win over the Buccaneers, though he remained in the game after passing a concussion test and finished with three catches for 45 yards. The New York Daily News reported Monday that the slot receiver is not expected to be cleared to participate in Thursday's matchup at New England, however.

The third-year pro led the Jets with 56 catches and 827 receiving yards last season.

To help offset Kerley's likely absence for Week 2, the Jets re-signed veteran wideout Ben Obomanu on Tuesday.

Defensive end Quinton Coples, who missed last week's game while recovering from ankle surgery performed in August, also did not take part in Tuesday's session along with quarterback Mark Sanchez, who reportedly has a partial labrum tear in his right shoulder.

Wide receiver Santonio Holmes (foot) and tight end Kellen Winslow (knee) were listed as limited participants.
