BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (ATU) - Jason Purdy captured a tie for 20th with a final-round 82 (+10) and a tournament score of 229 (+13) as the Arkansas Tech men's golf team took fifth place at this week's Northeastern State Classic in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with a team score of 918 (+54).
The Wonder Boys finished 21 strokes behind Central Missouri who won the tournament with an 897 (+33) team score. Michael Hearne of Southern Nazarene won individual medalist with a 218 (+2). Tech placed four golfers in the top 30 for the first time this season.
Rowdy Garrett shot a final-round 82 (+10) and tournament score of 230 (+14) to tie for 26th, Alex Mahlik finished with a 75 (+3) to shoot a 231 (+15) and tie for 29th, Julio Arguelles also tied for 29th with another 77 (+5) for the third straight round to shoot a tournament score of 231 (+15), and Brian Belz rounded out the Tech golfers with a final-round 81 (+9) and a 238 (+22) to tie for 51st.
Tech will return to action on Monday, October 7th to play in the Heart of America Invitational in Warrensburg, Missouri.
