RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (SAU) - Southern Arkansas volleyball players Gabby Clark and Amanda Monge were named Great American Conference Volleyball Players of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. Clark was named the GAC Setter of the Week and Monge was named the GAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Clark, who was the GAC Setter of the Week on October 1, earns the weekly honor for the second time after she paced the Southern Arkansas offense during their 3-1 week by totaling 163 of the team's 175 assists over the week (93%).
Twice Clark registered 50 or more assists with her top output of 56 assists coming in a 3-2 win against Montevallo.
In each of those 50+ assist games, Clark had double-digit digs to earn her sixth and seventh double-double performances of the season.
Monge, a native of Porterville, Calif., earns her first conference player of the week honor after being the Lady Muleriders' most efficient hitter over the week as she registered a .365 attack percentage. Fueling that percentage was her notching 47 kills and committing just 12 errors on 96 total attacks.
In the four matches played, Monge had an attack percentage of at least .316 with her top percentage of .400 coming in a 3-0 win against Stillman.
Twice, Monge led the team in kills in a match with her top performance coming against GAC-rival Ouachita Baptist as she hammered home a career-high 17 kills.
Monge was also a force at the net as she had 13 of the team's 21 blocks over the week.
Clark and Monge will be in action along with the rest of the Lady Muleriders on Tuesday night as they will travel to Batesville, Ark. to take on Lyon College in non-conference action. First-serve is set for 7 p.m.
