Beaumont, Texas (UCA) - The Central Arkansas volleyball team continued its Southland Conference road trip on Thursday night, hitting Beaumont, Texas to take on the Lamar Lady Cardinals. The Sugar Bears held the Lady Cards to a hitting percentage of just .012 on the night, picking up the 3-0 victory to push their winning streak to 14 games.
The Sugar Bears (21-3, 13-0 SLC) hit .280 to win the first set 25-18, .125 to take the second set 25-22, and .345 to win the final set 25-14. Fulani Petties led Central Arkansas in kills, tallying a match-high 10 on the night. Heather Schnars chipped in nine kills and four digs, while Jessica Nagy added seven kills and a block. Marissa Collins dished out a match-high 32 assists to pace the Central Arkansas offense.
Shelbee Berringer led the Central Arkansas defense with seven digs. Lamar (8-17, 6-7 SLC) was led offensively by Sierra Whittaker and Cortney Moore, who each had eight kills, and Ashley Ellis, who had 21 assists. Lauren Stahlman led the Lady Cards' defense with a match-high eight digs.
Central Arkansas travels to Huntsville, Texas on Saturday for a 2:00 pm match against Sam Houston State. They will then head to Tulsa, Oklahoma to face off with Oral Roberts at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 9th.
