FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) - The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team earned a No. 21 ranking in this week's Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming.com NCAA Division I poll.
The ranking was released after the Razorbacks went 4-0 in dual meets during the fall semester, breaking the school record for consecutive dual-meet victories. The Razorbacks have won 14 straight dual meets, breaking the record of 13 set from 1991-92.
The team ended fall competition with a win at the Missouri Invitational held in Columbia, Mo., from Nov. 21-23. The Razorbacks placed first out of 11 teams with a total of 809 points, 111 points more than second-place Utah and 112 points more than SEC opponent Missouri.
The invitational was highlighted by six event wins, including a first-place performance from the 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Susanna White (Forest, Va.), and sophomores Nina Drolc (Velenje, Slovenia), Anna Mayfield (San Antonio, Texas) and Maddie Monroe (Godfrey, Ill.), which also set a new Arkansas school record with a time of 3:17.65. The same team of swimmers set the previous record last season.
The rankings are based on performance and calculated on a 1,100-point scale. Performance points are assigned to the 27 best swims in a meet, and rankings are then compiled over each team's top performance over the previous month. Arkansas tallied 958.7 total points and represents one of six SEC teams to be ranked in the top 25.
The Razorbacks will return to competition on Jan. 11 when the team faces Alabama and Kentucky in a double-dual meet in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 11 a.m.
