Acapulco, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - American Sam Querrey survived a scare Monday in first-round play at the $1.309 million Mexican Open.

Querrey took down Mexico's Tigre Hank 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3 on the red clay at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess, avoiding a fourth first-round exit this year.

Monday's two other first-round matches were decided quickly. Israel's Dudi Sela moved on with an easy 6-1, 6-4 victory over Alejandro Falla of Colombia, and France's Jeremy Chardy downed Australia's Matthew Ebden 7-5, 6-0 in just over 65 minutes.

Rafael Nadal, who is not defending his title this week, topped then three-time reigning champion David Ferrer in last year's all-Spanish final.
