Harding Baseball Wins 6-0 Shutout over Southeastern Oklahoma

SEARCY, Ark. (Harding) - Harding used a four-run seventh inning and 7 2/3 shutout innings from starter Cameron Walker to defeat Southeastern Oklahoma 6-0 in the first game of a three-game Great American Conference series Friday at Jerry Moore Field.

The teams play a doubleheader Saturday at noon to conclude the series.

Walker (2-0) allowed only five hits and two walks and struck out a career-high 12 for his second straight win. He worked out of Southeastern's first serious scoring opportunity in the third inning. The Savage Storm loaded the bases with two out, but Walker struck out his second hitter of the inning to end the threat.

Walker struck out at least one batter in each of his first six innings and fanned two in the first and fourth innings.

Harding (10-5, 3-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first on Matt Calhoun's RBI double. The Bisons doubled their lead in the third. Trent Wooldridge singled in Kyler Offenbacker, who had led off the inning with a walk.

Harding blew the game open in the seventh. The Bisons sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning and took a 6-0 lead. Noah Chandler led off the inning with a single and came around to score on John Chapman's ground out to third base. Wooldridge, who had two hits in the game, added an RBI single, and Calhoun drove in another run with his second hit.

The Bisons' final run came when Zac Stewart stole home on a double steal with two outs. It was the third time this season a Harding player has stolen home.

Southeastern (9-6, 4-3) again threatened in the eighth, loading the bases with two outs for the second time in the game. But Harding reliever Bronson Smith struck out Jacob Soisson to preserve the shutout.

Canyon Conley (1-2) started and took the loss for the Storm. He allowed six runs (three earned) in 6 2/3 innings.
