Baseline Academy students enjoy a game of soccer with Little Rock Rangers

Rangers soccer club shares game with students in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Men and women with the Little Rock Rangers brought their soccer skills to Baseline Academy Monday to play a few games with students from Baseline Academy.

As the sport gains in popularity in the state, it only makes sense the Rangers would reach out to the community with the most soccer fans. The players brought their talents to southwest Little Rock not only to reach out to the diverse community, but to give them a few tips and tricks as well.

"We provide a good model for all kids to look at and we try to make sure that they understand that this is how soccer should be played," said head coach Will Montgomery.

Montgomery said his roster of players, which hail from several countries where soccer is the most popular sport, can easily show the diverse neighborhood a great example of team work and community involvement.

Students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades all got the chance to play a game with the players and develop their abilities. The 5th graders got the chance to meet the players a little more intimately with an autograph session.

The Rangers will play at War Memorial Stadium on May 20 against Demize NPSL at 7:00 p.m. and the Women's team will open regular season play on May 25 against the Memphis Lobos at 7:00 p.m.
