Norfolk, VA (Sports Network) - Old Dominion isn't rushing to judgment.

Or to the FBS level, for that matter.

Officials at ODU remained undecided Friday as five other schools - the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Florida International University, Louisiana Tech University, the University of North Texas and the University of Texas at San Antonio - finalized comprehensive membership agreements to join Conference USA, beginning in the 2013-14 school year.

ODU, whose startup football program will play just its fourth season in the FCS this fall, is weighing the opportunity to become the 14th C-USA member, which would allow the conference to split into two seven-school divisions. Ultimately, the conference is expected to increase to 16 members.

Current C-USA members Houston, SMU, UCF and Memphis are leaving for the Big East Conference in 2013.

Old Dominion has been wildly successful in its first three seasons under head coach Bobby Wilder. The Monarchs have a 27-8 record in that time, and debuted in CAA Football last year by tying for second place and reaching the second round of the FCS playoffs.

The CAA already is losing new member Georgia State, which announced last month that it will rise to the FBS level and the Sun Belt for the 2013 season.
