Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Michael Lyons scored a game-high 19 points,
leading four starters in double figures, as the Air Force Falcons fought their
way back for a 76-65 win over the Army Black Knights as part of the All-
Military Classic at McAlister Field House.
Also scoring in double digits for the Falcons (1-0) were Todd Fletcher with 16
points, Taylor Broekhuis 14 and Kyle Green 11 points in the triumph.
The Black Knights (0-1) were paced by Ella Ellis and his 16 points, but he
shot just 4-of-12 from the floor and didn't made a single field goal from
inside the three-point line. Josh Herbeck accounted for 12 points and Kyle
Wilson 10 off the bench, the duo combining to shoot only 7-of-25 from the
field.
Both teams shot under 45 percent from the floor in the first half, but thanks
to a 7-of-7 showing at the free-throw line, Army was able to post a 37-30
advantage at the break.
The Falcons trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half, but the squad
rallied by closing out the meeting on an impressive 27-7 run to capture the
victory.
Not only did the Falcons finish the afternoon shooting an even 50 percent from
the field, the team also outscored Army at the charity stripe, 20-9.
Air Force, the winner of this event last season, will now play The Citadel in
the title game on Sunday, after the Bulldogs topped VMI in the second game of
the day, 84-76.
