Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Devonta White scored 16 points and the Georgia
State Panthers topped the Monmouth Hawks 62-49 as part of the Coaches vs.
Cancer Classic at GSU Sports Arena.
R.J. Hunter finished with 14 points as well for Georgia State (1-2) which
picked up its first win of the season. James Vincent led on the boards with
eight rebounds while blocking nine shots.
Andrew Nicholas was the only double figure scorer for Monmouth (1-3) with 10
points. Ed Waite grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Georgia State led 30-23 at halftime by shooting 45.5 percent from the floor
while Monmouth hit on only 32.1 percent of its shots in the first half.
The Panthers continued to pull away in the second half by heating up to 57.9
percent shooting.
Monmouth connected on only 15-of-54 shots overall in the contest. Georgia
State overcame 21 turnovers and blocked 13 shots as a team.
Monmouth will take on South Alabama in the second day of the Coaches vs.
Cancer Classic while Georgia State will face Tennessee State.
