Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Parker Smith registered a double-double with
25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the North Florida Ospreys to a 74-46 rout of
the Georgia Southern Eagles in the final round of the Las Vegas Classic at
Orleans Arena.
Travis Wallace added 20 points and eight boards for North Florida (5-8), which
earned its second victory in a row.
Trey Bussey paced GSU (5-7) with 12 points and six rebounds while Eric
Ferguson netted 10 points. The Eagles struggled on the offensive end and shot
a mere 31.5 percent from the floor in the loss.
The Ospreys were in control early on as they hit 50 percent of their field
goal attempts including 4-of-10 from beyond the arc to build a 33-19 halftime
lead. GSU went just 7-of-26 from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
The Eagles improved to sink 35.7 percent of their field goal tries after the
break, but went just 1-of-6 from three-point range. North Florida coasted to
the easy win by knocking down 8-of-14 attempts from distance in the second
half.
The Ospreys held a 39-30 advantage in the rebounding battle and finished 12-
of-24 from three-point range.
