Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Jawanza Poland scored a team-high 16 points as
the South Florida Bulls defeated the George Mason Patriots, 61-57, at the USF
Sun Dome.
Poland was two rebounds shy of a double-double for South Florida (8-3).
Martino Brock scored 14 points and cleared seven rebounds, while Musa Abdul-
Aleem contributed 11 points off the bench as the Bulls posted their fourth
straight win.
For the Patriots (7-5), Sherrod Wright scored a game-high 22 points to go
along with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals, but was the only
player in double figures for George Mason as the team fell for the second time
in the last three outings.
The first half ended with both teams even at 22-22. George Mason was 9-of-31
from the floor, including 0-of-8 from long-range in the first half, while USF
was 9-of-27 from the field and a mere 1-of-6 at the free-throw line in the
period.
USF shot 4-of-8 beyond the arc while holding the visitors to a mere
2-of-7 from 3-point range after the intermission, en route to the four-point
victory.
The Patriots were guilty of 16 turnovers and shot just 2-of-15 from beyond the
arc in the outing.
