Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Bryn Forbes scored 21 points and pulled down
eight rebounds to help guide the Cleveland State Vikings to a 74-62 win over
the Detroit Titans in Horizon League play at the Wolstein Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Vikings (10-8, 2-2 HL) were Tim Kamczyc
and Sebastian Douglas with 15 and 11 points, respectively, while Charlie Lee
made up for his 1-of-6 shooting effort by handing out nine assists. The win
for CSU was the second in the last three outings.
The Titans (11-6, 3-1) were paced by Ray McCallum who tallied a game-high 22
points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor and not so much his 4-of-11 showing
at the free-throw line. Nick Minnerath logged a double-double for the visitors
with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds as they had a five-game win streak
snapped.
Cleveland State scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked
back, connecting on 57.1 percent from the floor in the first half, including
7-of-11 beyond the arc, en route to a 43-35 advantage at the break.
In the second half Detroit tried to fight back, but the team missed on all
seven tries behind the 3-point line and was a dismal 9-of-24 at the charity
stripe.
Not only did the Titans convert just 3-of-18 on the perimeter, the squad also
made a mere 13-of-32 at the free-throw line in the 12-point loss.
