Cape Girardeau, MO (Sports Network) - Tyler Stone recorded a double-double
with 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks as
they defeated the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 74-62, in an Ohio Valley
Conference showdown at the Show Me Center.
Stone was 5-of-5 from the field while earning 10 points at the charity stripe
for SEMO (11-10, 3-4 OVC), which ended its four-game losing streak. Nino
Johnson added 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks while Corey Wilford
managed 14 points and seven rebounds.
Jud Dillard led the Golden Eagles (7-11, 1-5) in scoring with 16 points to go
along with seven rebounds. Dennis Ogbe (13 points, seven rebounds), Jeremia
Samarrippas (10 points, six assists, three steals), and Lanerryl Johnson (10
points) all played well in a losing effort as Tennessee Tech continued its
slump and lost its seventh game in eight tries.
SEMO led 36-23 at halftime after shooting 50.0 percent from the field and
holding the Golden Eagles to just 25.0 percent shooting in the first half.
In the second half, Tennessee Tech outscored the Redhawks 39-38 after knocking
down five 3-pointers. SEMO protected its advantage on the scoreboard by
converting 17-of-23 at the charity stripe over the final 20 minutes.
The Redhawks shot 46.9 percent throughout the game while holding the Golden
Eagles to just 32.9 percent shooting.
