Valparaiso, IN (Sports Network) - Ryan Broekhoff recorded a double-double with
18 points and 10 rebounds as the Valparaiso Crusaders defeated the Wright
State Raiders, 69-63, in a Horizon League showdown at the Athletics-Recreation
Center.
Broekhoff was 5-of-11 from the field and made three 3-pointers for Valpo
(15-5, 5-1 Horizon), which has now won five consecutive games. Kevin Van Wijk
also scored 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds and Matt Kenney managed to
generate 15 points, six assists, and two blocks.
Cole Darling led all scorers with 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting for the
Raiders (13-5, 4-1), who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end.
Reggie Arceneaux added 14 points and was the only other Wright State player in
double-figure scoring.
Wright State led 34-30 after the first half due to shooting 48.0 percent from
the field and the Crusaders shooting 11-of-17 from the free-throw line.
In the second half, Valpo outscored the Raiders, 39-29, by shooting 46.2
percent from the field and knocking down seven 3-pointers.
The Crusaders assisted 16 of their 21 made field goals and committed just
seven turnovers to keep their winning streak intact.
