Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Devon Collier scored 16 points, leading five
players in double figures, as the Oregon State Beavers captured a 74-66 win
over the Washington Huskies in Pac-12 Conference play at Gill Coliseum.
Collier, who shot 4-of-5 from the floor, added seven rebounds and five assists
for the Beavers (11-8, 1-5 Pac-12) as they snapped a five-game slide. Roberto
Nelson threw in 15 points, although he shot a meager 3-of-14 from the floor.
Joe Burton accounted for 13 points, Eric Moreland 12 points, 10 rebounds and
four blocked shots off the bench, followed by Ahmad Starks with 10 points and
four assists for the hosts.
The Huskies (12-7, 4-2) were paced by C.J. Wilcox who registered a game-high
23 points, Abdul Gaddy posted 14, Scott Suggs 11 and Aziz N'Diaye chipped in
10 points and 10 rebounds as the team had a four-game win streak halted.
OSU ran out to a 10-1 lead to begin the meeting, eventually posting a 34-14
advantage with just over four and a half minutes remaining in the first half.
However, Washington closed the frame on a 15-5 run to make the deficit just 10
points at the break, thanks to a 3-pointer by Gaddy in the final moments.
In the second half the Beavers saw their lead reduced to just a single point a
couple of times, but down the stretch the hosts were able to pull away for the
eight-point win.
Oregon State forced 15 turnovers and also outscored the Huskies at the charity
stripe, 18-7.
