Boca Raton, FL (Sports Network) - Greg Gantt notched 19 points to lift the
Florida Atlantic Owls to a 76-71 win over the ULM Warhawks in a Sun Belt
Conference showdown at FAU Arena.
Stefan Moody dropped 16 points while Richard Morrow registered a double-double
with 11 points and 13 rebounds as FAU (11-12, 6-6 Sun Belt) snapped a three-
game skid. Pablo Bertone added 13 points and seven boards and Jackson Trapp
netted 10 points off the bench.
Amos Olatayo went for a career-high 25 points on 11-of-18 from the floor in
just 30 minutes to lead ULM (3-14, 2-9), which has dropped six games in a row.
Trent Mackey added 14 points on 4-of-9 from behind the arc as Jayon James
dished out a career-high nine assists to go along with seven points and eight
boards.
ULM snapped a 32-32 tie and finished the first half on a 13-4 run which
included consecutive layups by Millaun Brown for four of his nine points. The
Warhawks shot 65.4 percent from the field and scored 10 points in transition
in the opening period as they went into the locker room with a 45-36
advantage.
FAU wasted no time cutting into the deficit and regaining the lead on a Gantt
jumper with 11:56 remaining in the game. After a back and forth second half,
Bertone snapped a 67-67 tie with his only triple of the contest with 1:55
remaining to put the Owls ahead for good. After a hot first half, ULM managed
to knock down shots in the second half at just a 21.1 percent clip.
Florida Atlantic improved to 6-2 all-time over the Warhawks.
