Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Marc Trasolini hung up a double-double with
23 points and 13 rebounds as the Santa Clara Broncos eased by the Portland
Pilots, 70-46, in West Coast Conference action at the Leavey Center.
Brandon Clark added 15 points off the bench, Raymond Cowels III had 11 points,
Kevin Foster chipped in 10 and Yannick Atanga brought down 13 rebounds for
Santa Clara (17-6, 5-3 WCC) which has won five straight.
Ryan Nicholas was the only player in double figures for Portland (8-15, 1-7)
with 14 points as well as eight rebounds. The Pilots have lost five straight.
The Broncos dominated the first half and led 36-18 at the break. Santa Clara
shot at a 51.9 percent clip in the opening period and held the Pilots to just
five total field goals on 18.5 percent shooting.
In the second half the Broncos cooled to 48 percent shooting but held Portland
to 32 percent shooting to easily capture the win.
Santa Clara traded in 17 Portland turnovers for 20 points while the Pilots
squandered the 18 turnovers they forced by scoring just eight points off
takeaways.
