Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Jahii Carson scored a game-high 25 points and
Carrick Felix posted a double-double as the Arizona State Sun Devils escaped
with a 63-59 victory over the Washington State Cougars in Pac-12 action at
Beasley Coliseum.
Felix had 11 points to match 11 rebounds and Even Gordon added 13 points for
Arizona State (17-4, 6-2 Pac-12) which has won three straight.
Brock Motum also had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for
Washington State (11-10, 2-6) which has lost three of its last four. Royce
Woolridge had a team-high 16 points, Mike Ladd added 14 and Dexter Drew-
Kernich chipped in 10 off the bench for the Cougars as well.
At halftime the Cougars had a slim 28-26 lead. Washington State shot 41.7
percent from the field in the period and hit 7-of-14 shots from beyond the
arc. The Sun Devils shot just 32.3 percent from the field and nailed 6-of-17
shots from beyond the arc.
In the second half the Sun Devils improved to 45.2 percent shooting while
knocking down 5-of-14 shots from 3-point range to rally for the win. The
Cougars hit just 37.5 percent of their shots in the final 20 minutes
including 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Arizona State had a 16-2 edge ion points off of turnovers that proved to
be critical.
