Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Tevin Calhoun led the way with 15 points, as the
Troy Trojans shut down the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 71-52, in a Sun Belt
Conference tilt at Trojan Arena.
For the Trojans (10-13, 5-7 SBC), Ray Chambers added 10 points and Antoine
Myers pulled down nine rebounds and dished out six assists.
Bryant Mbamalu led the Ragin' Cajuns (8-16, 4-9) with 16 points, while Elfrid
Payton and Alan-Michael Thompson each finished with 11 points and Shawn Long
pulled down 11 rebounds.
Troy opened the contest shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 4-of-9 from
3-point range, as the Trojans took a 33-23 lead at the break. They held
Louisiana to just 37 percent shooting, including 3-of-11 from 3-point range.
In the second half the Trojans picked up the pace, knocking down 50 percent
of their field goal tries, including 5-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. The
Ragin' Cajuns made only 38.5 percent of their field goal attempts in the
frame, but did hit on 4-of-7 from 3-point distance. Troy pushed their lead to
as many as 24 points in the second half, as they cruised to victory.
Troy had a 35-32 rebounding advantage and outscored Louisiana in the paint,
26-20.
