Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Spencer Butterfield recorded a double-double
with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds as he helped guide the Utah State
Aggies to a 68-46 win over the Seattle Redhawks in Western Athletic Conference
play at KeyArena.
Jarred Shaw scored a game-high 16 points for the Aggies (16-5, 7-4 WAC),
followed by TeNale Roland with 12 points and Marcel Davis 11 as the team
posted a second straight win. Ben Clifford checked in with 10 rebounds as
well.
The Redhawks (7-14, 2-9), losers of four of the last five outings, were paced
by Chad Rasmussen with 10 points, although he shot just 2-of-10 from the
floor, including 1-of-7 behind the 3-point line.
Seattle led by a basket early in the meeting, but the squad ended up with just
eight field goals in the first half and missed all seven tries on the
perimeter, en route to a 30-19 deficit at the break.
In the second half, while the hosts made good on only 29.4 percent from the
floor, USU was knocking down 56.5 percent as it cruised to the comfortable
win.
Utah State dominated the Redhawks on the glass, 44-25, helping the visitors
to overcome 17 turnovers.
