Rochester, MI (Sports Network) - Duke Mondy finished with 16 points, including
the game-winning jumper with 22 seconds remaining to lift the Oakland Golden
Grizzlies to a 66-63 win over the North Dakota State Bison in Summit League
action at Athletics Center O'rena.
Travis Bader led the way with 23 points for Oakland (12-13, 7-4 Summit), while
Ryan Bass and Drew Valentine scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. The
Grizzlies have now won a season-high four straight games, and it was head
coach Greg Kampe's 500th career win.
For NDSU (18-6, 9-3), Lawrence Alexander tallied 21 points and seven assists,
TrayVonn Wright recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, and
Marshall Bjorklund had 12 points and nine boards. The Bison have lost three
straight road games.
Oakland carried a 35-26 advantage into intermission behind a 50 percent field
goal shooting effort in the first half. NDSU shot 44 percent in the opening 20
minutes but went only 2-of-11 from 3-point range.
The Grizzlies continued to lead for most of the second half until the Bison
used an 8-0 run to take a 63-59 advantage with just over two minutes
remaining. NDSU would go scoreless the rest of the way however, and Mondy's
bucket in the final minute proved to be the game-winner.
Oakland committed just six turnovers on the night and outscored NDSU from the
foul line, 14-7.
