Wolters, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits ran past the IUPU-Fort Wayne
Mastodons, 80-74, in a Summit League showdown at Memorial Coliseum.
Wolters shot 17-of-28 from the field, which included a school-record nine 3-
pointers, and went 10-of-11 from the foul line for SDSU (19-6, 10-2 Summit),
which extended its season-high winning streak to eight games. Wolters' effort
was the highest individual scoring output in Division I since Jodie Meeks
poured in 54 for Kentucky on Jan. 13, 2009.
Tony Fiegen also helped out in the victory with 11 points and six rebounds.
For IPFW (10-15, 3-8), Frank Gaines shot 11-of-22 from the field for 29
points, his third straight game scoring 29 or more. Luis Jacobo netted 14
points, and Mario Hines grabbed 11 rebounds for the Mastodons, who have lost
four of five.
IPFW had control of the game early, taking a 37-29 lead into intermission by
outshooting SDSU from the field, 50 percent to 32.3 percent.
The Jackrabbits made their charge after the break, and down by one with under
two minutes to play, they took the lead for good following a Wolters 3-
pointer.
SDSU won the turnover battle, 13-8, and outscored IPFW from the foul line by
an 18-9 margin.
