Long Beach, CA (Sports Network) - James Ennis had a double-double of 26 points
and 15 rebounds as the Long Beach State 49ers bested the Cal State Fullerton
Titans, 85-65, in a Big West Conference conflict at Walter Pyramid.
Tony Freeland had a double-double of his own (13 points, 12 rebounds), Dan
Jennings and Peter Pappageorge added 12 points apiece and Keala King chipped
in 10 points and six assists for Long Beach State (15-9, 11-2 Big West) which
has won 10 of its last 11 games.
Sammy Yeager and Kwame Vaughn each netted 18 points, D.J. Seeley added 10
points and six assists and Jared Brandon ripped down 10 rebounds for Cal State
Fullerton (12-12, 5.7) which has lost four of its last five.
In the first half Long Beach State nailed 48.6 percent of its shots from the
floor while holding Cal State Fullerton to 34.2 percent shooting, to take a
42-36 lead into the break.
After halftime the 49ers improved to 54.5 percent shooting to pull away for
the 20-point victory.
Long Beach State had a massive edge in rebounds (49-30) and had 11 more field
goals in the contest than the Titans.
