Davis, CA (Sports Network) - Corey Hawkins paced five teammates in double
figures with 21 points as the UC Davis Aggies made easy work of the Hawaii
Rainbow Warriors, 89-65, in a Big West Conference bout at The Pavilion.
Ryan Sypkens shot 5-of-7 from 3-point range en route to 17 points for UC Davis
(10-13, 6-6 Big West), which has won two of three. Paolo Mancasola and Tyler
Les scored 11 points apiece, J.T. Adenrele had 10 points, and Ryan Howley
ripped down 10 rebounds for the home team.
For Hawaii (15-10, 9-5), Hauns Brereton led the way with 17 points, while
Brandon Spearman and Ozren Pavlovic netted 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Jace Tavita handed out eight assists for the Rainbow Warriors, who snapped a
season-long five-game winning streak.
Both teams shot greater than 52 percent from the field in the first half, but
UC Davis was able to take a comfortable 47-31 lead at intermission by going 6-
of-9 from 3-point range and 7-of-8 from the foul line.
The Aggies' field goal efficiency slowed to 42.9 percent after halftime, but
their advantage was never in doubt as they led by as many as 28.
UC Davis claimed a 38-29 edge in the rebounding battle and scored 26 points
off of 17 Hawaii turnovers.
