Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Brandon Peterson posted a double-double with
20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to an 86-62
victory over the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans in a Sun Belt Conference tilt
at the Convocation Center.
Ed Townsel added 15 points for the Red Wolves (16-9, 10-6 Sun Belt), who
claimed sole possession of first place in the conference's West Division with
the win. Kendrick Washington and Cameron Golden each chipped in with 11 points
for the home team.
Josh Hagins and John Gillon finished with 11 points apiece to lead the Trojans
(15-11, 9-6).
ASU shot 48.1 percent from the field and knocked down 4-of-8 from 3-point
range in the first half, as it took a 45-29 lead into intermission. UALR made
just 35.7 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half.
The Red Wolves continued their hot shooting in the second half, connecting on
54.2 percent from the field, as they pushed their advantage to as many as 27.
The Red Wolves forced 18 Trojan turnovers and converted them into 21 points.
ASU also outscored UALR at the free-throw line, 26-14.
