Marshawn Powell earns SEC player of week honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) -- Arkansas' Marshawn Powell, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound junior forward from Newport News, Va., was named SEC?Player of the Week.

The honor comes after Powell averaged 22 points, 5.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.5 blocks in win at Auburn and versus Missouri. He led the Razorbacks in scoring in Arkansas' game against Missouri, scoring 15 of his 24 points in the second half and helping Arkansas erase a four-point halftime deficit.

Powell nearly posted his fourth double-double of the year against Auburn with 20 point and nine rebounds. He recorded back-to-back 20-point games for the first time since his true freshman season (2009-10).

Powell moved into 24th on Arkansas' all-time scoring list with 1,201 career points passing Mario Credit (1,162 pts) this week.
