Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Dan Majerle was named the new head coach of
Grand Canyon's men's basketball team on Monday.
Majerle, 47, takes over a team that will play in the Western Athletic
Conference next season as the Antelopes move into Division I.
"I love Phoenix and the community, and it's a dream come true to be named as
coach at Grand Canyon," said Majerle. "This is a growing university, steeped
in tradition."
Majerle had been an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns of the NBA, a team
that he played with in eight of his 14 seasons in professional basketball.
He replaces former head coach Russ Pennell, who resigned last week.
