JONESBORO, Ark. (A-State) - For the second consecutive week the Sun Belt Conference will be the featured affair on ESPN2 on Tuesday night. This time around a critical early conference play matchup will be featured as UL-Lafayette travels to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State.
In last week's Tuesday night matchup between the Cajuns and WKU, UL-Lafayette took advantage of turnovers and used their ground attack to win 37-20. UL-Lafayette stands at 4-2 on the season with four consecutive wins and 2-0 in Sun Belt play, meanwhile A-State enters the game 3-3 overall and has won their only conference game to date.
Coming off this past week, the Sun Belt Conference has moved its non-conference win total to 16 with South Alabama's win this past Saturday against Kent State. The league had already established its second highest non-conference win total of all-time and has five regular season opportunities to catch last year's record of 19 total non-conference wins.
Of note for the league's non-conference win total is that the Sun Belt has fared well against its peer opponents in the non-AQ BCS ranks. The Sun Belt stands at a combined 6-1 against members of Conference-USA (3-1), the Mid-American Conference (2-0) and the Mountain West Conference (1-0).
The Sun Belt also has the best overall non-conference win percentage when comparing the four non-AQ conferences.
