A-State Women's Golf Opens Play at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (A-State) – The Arkansas State women's golf team began play Sunday at the Kiawah Island Classic by shooting an opening-round 301, placing the Red Wolves tied for ninth among 36 teams with two rounds remaining in the 54-hole tournament.

A-State's 301 was its best score this spring and matched its third lowest round this season. The Red Wolves ended the three-day tournament's first round in a tie with Delaware and Elon, and they are only one stroke behind two teams tied for seventh place. Troy is in first place after recording a 291 and is followed by three teams tied for second with a 292.

Abi Laker and Maci Arrington both shot a 74 and are tied for 23rd place to lead Arkansas State. Also competing for the Red Wolves, Megan Garland is tied for 35th place with a 75, Marie Couffignal tied for 76th with a 78 and Courtney Manning tied for 120th with an 82.

The Kiawah Island Classic will continue Monday with the second round.
