Derek Fisher named Knicks head coach

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Knicks have introduced Derek Fisher as their new head coach.

Fisher agreed to replace Mike Woodson, who was fired by new Knicks' president Phil Jackson. His hiring comes days after he finished his 18th season as a player, a career that included five championships while playing for Jackson with the Lakers.

The Knicks went 37-45 and missed the playoffs this season, just a year after winning the Atlantic Division and advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
