NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The North Little Rock Wildcats have been a powerhouse, undefeated team all season long. Now, they face off with Fayetteville for the 7A State Championship on Friday night.
Fans are so excited they started getting their tickets early. Over 1,500 tickets were sold during pre-sales for the championship battle. The game is expected to have a packed War Memorial Stadium tomorrow.
It will be a historic game for this community, which has been rallying behind this team all year. The Wildcats are a team that has always come so close to making it to the championship but struggled to get to finals. Now, they have a chance to prove that Central Arkansas teams can beat the stronghold programs in northwest Arkansas.
We spoke to the Mayor of North Little Rock, Joe Smith, on Thursday about what this means for the community and he said that it has sparked a high level of excitement across the city.
"It's an excitement we haven't seen around North Little Rock in a long time and I really like it," Smith said. "Last week, at the semi-final game we were packed and everyone was so glad to be there."
The game is happening Friday night at 7:00 pm at war memorial stadium.
