Yurachek was named Vice President of Athletics at the University of Houston in 2015.
"He possesses the experience, the management skills and the passion to have an immediate impact on our university," said University of Arkansas Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz in a press release. "I know that as Razorbacks around our state and country get to know him, they will know that we are in good hands."
The university touted the University of Houston's success while Yurachek was the school's athletic director. In 2016-17, 11 of the 17 sports programs at Houston qualified for postseason play and fives teams won American Athletic Conference titles. The programs also won 21 individual conference titles.
"There is already so much already in place [at U of A], and we will quickly build on that foundation to win championships," Yurachek said.
The new athletic director agreed to a five-year contract worth $850,000 a year.
