LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (THV11) -In a week where we saw record low temperatures inside there isn’t a team hotter than the Little Rock Trojans. They’re undefeated in conference but they have their toughest task to date coming up on Saturday.
"I wish we had another two weeks" says head coach Joe Foley. Foley’s team is the only 6-0 Sun Belt team in the conference following a brutal non-conference schedule with trips to Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and LSU
"If you don’t play that kind of schedule sometimes it doesn’t show up until you’re in conference and you don’t want those things showing up in conference so I think for us that really helps us do what we do." What they do is impose their will, on the court and off the court. Everybody is looking up a Ronjanae DeGray this season. She leads the Trojans with over 13 points a game.
"As far as on the court I just relax and play basketball. I don’t get nervous or get any jitters, Just relax and play basketball. But it’s always nice to play in front of a crowd that has your back."
Ronjanae usually is the one with the team on her back. But a rare defensive lapse against UT-Arlington nearly cost the Trojans the game at the buzzer. "Me as an upper classmen I should have known and be able to take that away. Got a wide open layup she missed it I guess she was so scared but I’m happy we got the win honestly."
Now the team hopes that resiliency will keep their conference record perfect and draw Joe Foley closer to passing his counterpart in Jonesboro for the most conference wins in Sun Belt history.
"Brian is a lot older than I am that’s the only reason. I’m just kidding. Brian has been in the conference a long time and he’s done such a great job Now I’m right behind him we have a great friendship and he does a great job."
Tip-off in this one is set for 3:00 followed by the men at 5:00. .
