The star of '12 Years a Slave' is still stinging from past awards season.
It's early yet, but Irish hottie Michael Fassbender sure does seem to be a lock for an Oscar nomination this season for his work as a villainous slaveowner in 12 Years a Slave.
Then again, he sure did seem like a lock two years ago for Shame, but came up empty-handed when nominations were announced.
Fassbender says he's learned his lesson and plans to stay out of the fray this year, telling GQ that he'll avoid campaigning for a nomination.
"You know, I get it. Everybody's got to do their job. So you try and help and facilitate as best you can. But I won't put myself through that kind of situation again," the November cover boy tells the men's mag. "It's just a grind. And I'm not a politician. I'm an actor."
Besides, he'll be busy filming Macbeth with Marion Cotillard very far away during awards season anyway, so there.
"That's just not going to happen, because I'll be in New Zealand. I'll be on the other side of the world. ... You know, I get it.I'm going to be busy working," he says. "I just don't really have time."
