NEW BRAUNFELS, TX (CNN) -- An animal preserve in central Texas is celebrating the very rare birth of twin giraffes.

On May 10 a female calf named "Wasswa" was born first. Her brother "Nakato" was second.

They're the only set of living twin giraffes in the U.S. and they're only the second set of surviving twin giraffes ever born in America!

The Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is a 400-acre animal preserve billing itself as an African safari, Texas-style.

As the twins near their three-month mark, a spokeswoman says they are thriving.
