LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock Animal Village had plenty of excited visitors on Tuesday looking for a last minute Christmas present.
"Because it's Christmas, it's been kind of busy today," said Kennel Technician Heather Robinson.
They have about 180 furry friends looking for families.
Sandra David already has six puppies at home. So she was looking for a new friend for her niece, Karen.
"She's had a really hard year," she said. "And this is going to make her year. She never thought she could get a real puppy so she is excited and so am I."
They've already picked out a name. Lance-A-Lot.
Many of the animals, like Lance-A-Lot, won't be ready to go home until after Christmas. But Animal Village Manager Tracy Roark said a post-Christmas adoption can be just as exciting.
"Having a kitten or a puppy or a dog or a cat is something special," Roark said.
"We definitely want them to bring the kids down and make it a family event so everyone can pick out a good dog," said Robinson.
The Animal Village will be closed on Christmas Day - but will re-open on Thursday at 8am.
