Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Fox, 9 ET/PT

In this excellent repeat, the squad meets Capt. Holt's (the sublime Andre Braugher) husband at a birthday party — and it doesn't go well. The episode, to be sure, is filled with the usual sitcom stuff: misunderstood intentions; bumbling interactions; people pushing to the point of failure, until wiser heads and better natures save the day. But the skill and charm with which the material is put across, particularly by Braugher and Andy Samberg, is far from usual, and a big reason why Brooklyn probably has the best Emmy shot of any new broadcast comedy.

Detectives examines what might have happened and why.
