New York, NY (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has won the National League Player of the Week award for the period of April 16-22.

Freeman hit .478 and paced the MLB with 14 runs batted in on the week. He also tied for first in the NL with three home runs.

The 22 year-old played a key role in the Braves' 5-1 record during the week, recording five multi-RBI games, including knocking in a career-high five runs on April 19, to help him earn the first weekly award of his MLB career.

Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee, Giants pitcher Matt Cain and Dodgers left fielder Matt Kemp -- last week's winner -- were among the other players mentioned by MLB as having noteworthy weeks.
