LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A clerk was shot in the face during an attempted robbery of a convenience store.

Little Rock police say the suspect,a man in his late teens to early 20s, about 5'5" to 5'6" and weighing between 115-125 pounds walked into the EZ Mart at 11724 Rainwood just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspect entered the store prentending to be a customer. After getting help from the clerk, police say the suspect shot the clerk, hitting them in the face with a handgun. The suspect then shot the clerk in the back as the clerk fled from the store.

The suspect then went behind the counter and tried to open the register, but couldn't get it open. The suspect then fled.
