LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 17, 2012) - You may not realize it, but Arkansas is the epicenter of the cheese dip culinary world. And this weekend, you're invited to celebrate the ultimate comfort food at this year's World Cheese Dip Championship.

In the past two years, over 10,000 people have come together to celebrate the local phenomenon known as cheese dip by casting their votes to decide what is the best tasting recipe in the world.

Teams are divided into Amateur and Professional divisions, and winners will be determined through a series of blind tastings as celebrities, politicians and food writers/critics, sample and then vote on what they think is the best tasting cheese dip.Festival attendees will also be able to vote to determine who will receive this year's PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS.

Winners will receive cash prizes, as well as trophies created exclusively for the event by a local artist, and the overall Professional Division Champion wins a trip to New Orleans to participate in the 2013 New Orleans Roadfood Festival held in the historic French Quarter.

"The public response the last two years has been overwhelming and once again proves that Central Arkansas is the cheese dip epicenter" said Southern Cheese Dip Academy founder Nick Rogers."Teams from as far as New York City and Vermont competed last year, and we expect other states to join us this year. The World Cheese Dip Championship has attracted national attention from food shows, chefs and magazines and has given positive exposure to cheese dip and Arkansas."

The World Cheese Dip Championship will be held Saturday, October 20 at the Clinton Presidental Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door. If you wear your 2012 'Race for the Cure' T-shirt, you'll receive a $2 discount.

Proceeds from the Championship will benefit Harmony Health Clinic, a Little Rock based non-profit medical clinic that provides free health care for the uninsured and underserved in Pulaski County.
