LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Thursday, the Arkansas House of Representatives elected a new Speaker of the House.

They elected Rep. Davy Carter of Cabot. The House voted 52-45 in favor of Carter over GOP Rep. Terry Rice of Waldron.

In a speech to the chamber, Carter pledged to work across party lines.
