NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Bells ringing all over the city to help children in need is one of the many sounds of the season.

Liz Massey said she was honored to help kick-off the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign at McCain Mall in North Little Rock Friday morning.

More than 70 bell ringers will be all over the city raising money until Christmas Eve.

Major Alan Hill, with the Salvation Army, said every dime raised will help children in need. Your donations go to help give meals to the needy, give children Christmas gifts, and provide food baskets to neighbors in need.

"Everybody doing a little bit, it adds up and like I said it does make possible a wonderful Christmas for a lot of families. Over 3,000 children will be provided Christmas this year," he said.

Major Hill says there are other ways you can donate this year, including creating your own virtual kettle online.The Salvation Army is giving away 5 Kindle Fires to their top online fundraisers. To register, you can go to

Others way to get involved are ringing the bell at one of the kettles, helping at the Angel Tree, assisting at the gift distribution center, filling stockings, serving Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, conducting Angel Tree toy and food drives, or doing general clerical work.
