JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Jacksonville is preparing to open its new emergency communications center. Mayor Gary Fletcher said progress is moving along smoothly for the 45,000 square-foot facility.

The new building, being constructed on Marshall Road, will house the police department, fire department classrooms, the city's 911 call center, and a safe room in the event of severe weather.

The new emergency center is costing nearly $6 million; the police station should be moved in the facility by January 2013.
