LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock's newest fire station is now open for operation. Fire Station 23, located at the corner of Rahling Road and Taylor Loop in the western portion of Little Rock, is the first new station since 1992.
The station built in 1992, at 17000 Chenal Valley Road, responds to the Taylor Loop area with a response time between 3-6 minutes. Chief Gregory Summers told THV 11 earlier this year that the addition of Fire Station 23 could cut response time to underfour minutes.
The city used $800,000 from Little Rock's new sales tax to help fund the construction of Fire Station 23.
The grand opening ceremony for the new station was Monday at 10 a.m.
