FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Thieves are targeting vet clinics in Washington County and that has the sheriff's department beefing up patrol.

The thieves have hit five clinics in the past month alone including one in Fayetteville where police said they kicked down the door to get in and got away with about $600. Investigators suspect the same people are hitting each business.

"My first guess would be that they are looking for cash, probably to buy drugs because they were probably not thinking rationally because there are other ways they could have gotten money a lot easier," said Dr. Michael Mohler.

Investigators said the thieves hit two businesses in Fayetteville and three in Springdale in two days.
