CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - The Soul Food Café and Mission in Conway serves needy community members every week, but Friday even more help was brought in for the mission's holiday celebration.
Cars lined up outside the Second Baptist Church to receive free food boxes, winter clothes, and toys for children. The mission gave out a record 400 food boxes on Thanksgiving and believed they surpassed that number today.
"One guy said he's had some really bad health problems with some aneurisms and different things," said Co-Director Rick Harvey. "He said he wouldn't know what he would do without the food that we gave him. I just give all the glory to the Lord because it's really not us. We're just all working together."
Harvey said more than a hundred families with multiple children registered to receive toys from the mission.
He said The Ride in Conway provided 27 refurbished bikes for children.
