LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Craig O'Neill sits down with Jim Harris, editor with Sporting Life Arkansas, to talk about the recent coaching changes and additions in Arkansas.
Since Bret Bielema took over as the head football coach at the University of Arkansas, he has filled several vacancies among the coaching staff. As some coaches left for other opportunities, Bielema jumped at the opportunity to fill the void.
Offensive coordinator Paul Petrino left to become the head coach at Idaho. While, defensive coordinator Paul Haynes was just named as head coach at Kent State.
Replacing those top positions are Jim Chaney as offensive coordinator and Chris Ash as defensive coordinator. Chaney was the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee. Bielema brought Ash with him from Wisconsin.
Bielema also brought Sam Pittman, offensive line coach, from Tennessee.
Several Wisconsin coaches followed Bielema to Arkansas. Charlie Partridge as defensive line coach, Chris Hauser as on-campus recruiting coordinator, Ben Herbert as head strength and conditioning coach and Mark Taurisani as director of football operations.
Across the state at ASU, new head coach Bryan Harsin has much more work to do. While some coaches have announced the desire to leave the school, others have yet to make an announcement.
Rhett Lashlee will stay with the Red Wolves through their bowl game, but then he's headed to Auburn to take over as offensive coordinator there.
Just announced Wednesday, Jeff Pitman will take over as director of strength and conditioning for the Red Wolves.
