Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Aaron White scored 17 points for the Iowa Hawkeyes as they picked up a 70-66 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers in a Big Ten matchup at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
White was 13-of-15 from the free-throw line with seven rebounds for the Hawkeyes (13-5, 2-3 Big Ten), who have now won two in a row. Roy Devyn Marble (13 points, five rebounds), Mike Gesell (11 points), and Anthony Clemmons (10 points) all played key roles in the win.
George Marshall led all scorers with 20 points off the bench for Wisconsin (13-5, 4-1), which saw its seven-game wining streak come to an end. Marshall was 7-of-10 from the field with three 3-pointers while Sam Dekker added 13 points and a game-high four assists.
Iowa took a huge 34-18 lead into the break after holding the Badgers to just 23.1 percent shooting from the field in the first half.
In the second half, Wisconsin put together a strong rally effort, outscoring the Hawkeyes 48-36 while shooting 59.4 percent from the field. Marshall drained a 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining to cut the hosts lead to three points at 66-63. However, Iowa held off Wisconsin by sinking its final five free throw attempts.
Iowa went 24-of-29 at the charity stripe to overcome its 2-of-10 showing from beyond the arc.
